Located in Portland’s vibrant Hawthorne neighborhood, Witching Hour Tattoo is more than a tattoo studio—it’s also a thoughtfully curated fine art gallery.
Co-founded by artists Ashton Allen and Rachel Gilbert the gallery space showcases rotating exhibitions from local and visiting artists, including photography, illustration, and mixed media.
Recent shows have featured works by artists such as Shannon Wheeler and Tom Healy, underscoring the studio’s commitment to supporting diverse creative voices. By blending tattooing with traditional gallery culture, Witching Hour offers a space where visual storytelling thrives both on skin and on canvas.

We are excited to start periodically offering art classes in our gallery space!
New classes will be announced both here and on IG/FB.

This is an open draw session for anyone who wants to drop in for a little refresh on their anatomy skills (because let’s face it, we could ALL use a little practice drawing hands, right?)
Our models for the evening will be two lovely ladies from Portland’s illustrious burlesque community – Baby LeStrange and Sophie du Mal!
They will help us elevate the tradition life-drawing class to a more fun and creative level with various costumes and accessories!
We will start the night off with some quick gesture drawings, then move on to shorter poses, and finally wrap up with some longer poses. (Tattooers, if you have a specific project coming up and a certain pose would be really helpful for preparing your drawing, just ask the ladies and perhaps they can accommodate!)
Entry is $25 (and the ladies will have a tip jar available).
This is open to both tattoo artists and non-tattooers (but FYI tattooers – it will count as 3 hours of continuing education and we will have certificates ready!)
We can accept debit/credit/cash at the door.
This is BYOAS (Bring Your Own Art Supplies) so plan ahead for your sketchbooks, pencils, etc. We have a few small tabletop easels if you want to use one, but bring your own if you want something larger)
*It should go unsaid (but it won’t) that we will have a zero-tolerance policy for any lewd behavior. This is an art class, not a strip club. Be absolutely awesome or be gone!*
