Ashton Allen is a professional tattoo artist, illustrator, and oil painter whose work bridges the worlds of fine art and body art. Known for her distinctive blend of illustrative realism, traditional techniques, and painterly detail, Ashton has built a reputation for tattoos that are not only technically precise but emotionally resonant. With over a 15 years of experience, she brings an artistic sensitivity to every piece—transforming skin into living canvas.
Ashton’s artistic journey began with a deep-rooted love for drawing and painting, which evolved naturally into tattooing as a medium for personal storytelling and self-expression. Her tattoos often draw from natural elements, mythological themes, and symbolic imagery, rendered in a style that balances bold composition with delicate linework and rich texture. Whether working in black-and-grey or color, Ashton’s work exudes depth, movement, and intention.
Outside the tattoo studio, Ashton is a dedicated oil painter and gallery artist, with exhibitions showcasing her narrative-driven paintings and illustrations. She is also co-owner of Witching Hour Tattoo, a Portland-based studio and gallery space she founded alongside fellow artist Rachel Gilbert (Inkstress). The studio serves as a creative haven for both clients and artists—a place where tattoos and traditional art coexist and inspire one another.

Finished Sarah`s art nouveau farmer pinup backpiece. Her legs and the water are fresh and the rest is healed. She asked for a back piece of a farmer girl in a pinup style pose drawing water from an antique water pump to commemorate her Polish grandmother. She wanted the pinup`s face to be based on the old Hollywood actress Clara Bow. We also incorporated poppies from a painting that hung in her grandma`s house into the design. For the background we incorporated a mountain scene from where she grew up outside Las Vegas. This was also a cover up! The rooster was an existing tattoo she had that was done by another artist. I grew up in Alaska watching great blue herons fish at the side of the marshes near our house, a wetlands area that was a large expanse of grass and mud with streams and channels cutting through all leading into the ocean. It would completely disappear under the changing tides and then be revealed twice a day my entire childhood. Was stoked to make this guy and added a little art nouveau flare in there because that`s what I do 🙌✨ I am always thrilled to tattoo anything from nature especially that is found in the PNW.
